MORE THOUGHTS ON PRAYER

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (1 John 5:14 - NKJV) When we pray, we are to ask according to the will of God. John 14 says "Whatever you ask in my name I will do it…" That does not mean that just by adding "in Jesus name" at the end of a prayer that God is obligated to fulfill your wishes.

It means two things. First it means that you are praying in the authority of God. Secondly it means that you are praying in a way that is consistent with His character. In other words, we are praying in such a way that truly represents Christ and reflects His own Holy will. We don’t ask for things that we know God will not fulfill, but we pray consistent with the God of the Bible and what He would want. That means you have to know the God of the Bible and not a god of your own imagination.

LADIES RETREAT

I hope that all of you ladies are signed up to go to the Ladies Retreat at Falls Creek on the 11th and 12th. It promises to be a great time of fellowship and Bible Study with other women, not just from Bethel but from around the state. It also gives you a chance to see the new Falls Creek Conference Center. Make sure you go to this. If you don’t have the money, that’s okay, we do. Just please take advantage of this and go. See Lisa Stiles to register.

KIRBY'S NOTES

Please don’t forget Outreach this month. We need ALL of you there to help spread the word that the Gospel of Jesus is being preached at Bethel Baptist Church. We need ALL of you to spread the news you are loved and accepted at Bethel Baptist Church. We need to spread the word that Jesus loves and will save to the uttermost. Outreach is the 7th and 21 at 6:30 PM. Please be there.
